Hornets-Magic Preview

By JEFF BARTL (STATS Writer) | The Associated Press – Tue, Dec 25, 2012 11:54 AM EST
YAHOO! Sports

Ryan Anderson had the best season of his career for the Orlando Magic in 2011-12, pricing himself out of a new contract with the team in the process.

The New Orleans Hornets gave him the dollars he sought, but he isn't enjoying much success at the moment.

Anderson will look to help New Orleans avoid matching a franchise-record 12-game losing streak in his return to Orlando on Wednesday night.

Anderson was named the NBA's Most Improved Player after averaging career highs of 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds while hitting a league-high 166 3-pointers for the Magic last season. He was a restricted free agent during the offseason, and New Orleans signed him to a four-year, $36 million offer sheet.

Orlando decided not to match and completed a sign-and-trade deal with the Hornets, acquiring big man Gustavo Ayon.

Excellent breakdown! I'm going Magic beating Hornets 102-94. As unfortunate as it is that Big Baby, Turk, and Harrington are all injured, it is nice to see the rookies getting a little bit more time in the rotation. Go Magic!!!

:cheers:/>

The return of Ryno to Amway, yeeeeeeeeee. I hope we don't underestimate the Hornets though. They are 5-22, but we need to win games like these; they're just as important. Anthony Davis is back too and he's a force, should be fun to watch.

You know we are good at losing easy games?
